In October of 1989, Pastors Ed & Yvette Brinson received a word from the Lord charging them to "Build An Oasis In The Desert: a place where those that are thirsty can come and be refreshed.."
Pastors Ed & Yvette left their home in Rochester, New York and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In answering the call, Pastors Ed & Yvette Brinson found Redeeming Word Christian Center International in January, 1992. The first service was held in the home of the pastors in Lauderhill, Florida with 25 in attendance. Five (5) of the 25 surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ. In March 1992, the services were moved to Lauderhill Paul Turner Elementary School.
As God added to the body, several ministries were born: Children's Church, Ushers, Greeters, Women’s Fellowships and more. The church continued to prosper and the number of disciples increased. |

After 2 years at the school facility, Redeeming Word searched for a new home which would accommodate God’s increase and vision for the church. In June of 1994, a 12,000 sq. ft. furniture warehouse was acquired in the city of Lauderhill. The warehouse had a leaking roof, broken air-conditioning units and many other areas in need of repair. Despite the volume of work, the church stood on Nehemiah 2:20 "The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build..." (NK JV)
During the first week of August 1994, in a record time, the sanctuary was ready for the first Worship Service. In October 1996, due to the increase in attendance, it became necessary to have two Sunday services in order to provide sufficient seating. In April of 1999, because of continued growth we moved our Sunday morning worship services Dillard High School gymnasium. After exactly one year later, in April 2000, we moved into our new building which sits on 17 acres of land. This land houses: our sanctuary, a two-story at 11,000 sq. ft. building, which facilitates our Pre-School and Academy, and 14,000 sq. ft. that will be used for our Joshua Youth Group and our Children’s Church, a soccer field, 4 modular homes and three playgrounds. Also, there is approximately 4 acres of undeveloped land to build our new sanctuary, the Word Dome.
REDEEMING WORD CHRISTIAN CENTER INTERNATIONAL, a church that will be a praise in the earth.
